A key factor in Digital Zest’s website design for Newby Early Years was the mood board which was full of life, colour and a sense of adventure. From the brightest colour palette, fun graphics and a welcoming, approachable tone, Newby Early Years also had to feature important and necessary information in a way that would appeal to parents. The sense of fun and learning was paramount with the simple use of top menus with a selection of drop downs ensuring the user experience was straightforward for adults who are often ‘time poor’. The fonts were also important with a clever mix of formal and informal fonts that helped indicate the balance between fun and learning at Newby Early Years. There was also the reference to an additional website (Newby Fun Factory) for children aged 3 to 12-years. The design of this site reached out to a slightly different audience whose children required wrap-around care and holiday club facilities, among other aspects. The Fun Factory logo is apparent on every page allowing for easy toggling between the two websites.
