Project Summary

Island Blue Publishing was founded in the late 1980s and since then has successfully captured the stunning beauty of mainland Scotland and the Scottish Isles.

The company is operational year-round and as such required a web presence that promoted and elevated the group’s products to a much wider audience. However, their e-commerce platform needed to appeal to both retail and trade customers and due to its remote location, had to seamlessly integrate with one the world’s largest online sales portal.

Their previous e-commerce presence needed a complete overhaul and had to be able to leverage one of the most widely used, adaptable software programs, WooCommerce. Their global appeal also had to integrate with Amazon, one of the globe’s giant online retailers.

As well as integrating and utilising WooCommerce, the complex bulk ordering system was also built into Island Blue’s ecommerce platform. Digital Zest also added a checkout editor which is part of the overall ability to converse with customers and clients in one of the most targeted ways possible.

With the e-commerce store being of crucial importance, this involved the implementation of an easy to control stock system. The simple clean format of the website was also a key logistical element of the build. An informative, real time availability counter was also introduced to the website.

The importance of mobile responsiveness for this particular website was crucial given the focus upon artistic creativity and artwork.

The Digital Zest Team ensured that whatever the screen size, the imagery was stunning and tempted those visiting the website to purchase products.


Over the 24-month period of the years 2018 to 2019 a rise of 76% in sales was achieved. Additional statistics for this unique brand include the management of the Amazon integration from single orders upwards.

The main element of the brief was to ensure the website was simple in design and yet was a powerhouse for the business. This was achieved so the distinctive vision of Island Blue shines through, this being the global shop front to one of Digital Zest’s success stories.
