Objectives
The new website needed a broad appeal with the more detailed aspects of this educational establishment easy-to-find and navigate around. It required a highly responsive design with a reliable content management system that would work seamlessly with the college's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
This included an essential responsive element to reflect the multitude of different devices students and tutors use during their academic work.
The effectiveness of this website was never more important in recent months as more remote learning took place.
“Digital Zest took the stress out of developing and launching our new website. They are creative and fun to work with and we are extremely pleased with the result.”
- Maria Khan, Admissions & Marketing Manager
our strategy
The website needed to be attractive to new students and their parents or guardians, reassuring them how suitable S6F is for their educational requirements.
An easy online path was required, from course application to enrolment, including an easy search tool and application process.
With such an array of courses available, a 'virtual' prospectus was created with alphabetical listings of subjects and qualification types.
This was achieved by using a muted yet effective colour palette, multiple use of icons, large, blocky fonts and site-wide visuals.
The Digital Zest team built the new website around an existing code framework to ensure a smooth user experience that facilitated excellent learning opportunities, staff progression and up-to-date information.
One of the most important aspects of any place of education is the application process and the new website facilitated this with an-easy-to-follow application interface.
The Digital Zest team worked tirelessly to understand the dynamics of the users of the website, from students to parents/guardians, to tutors and educators. Given learning can take place via any gadget with a screen, the fluidity and easy navigation of the website was crucial, no matter what the screen size.

The gathering of student data is a key element to the ongoing success of S6F and had to be done in the legal, secure manner that is a pre-requisite of educational concerns.
The data can also be used to facilitate and improve the student’s ‘journey’, meeting expectations and helping them discover their academic path with S6F.
Exciting, inclusive design that attracted multiple end-users helped inspire the innovate interface of the finished website, using the unique colour palette, fonts and logo of S6F. For the inner pages, the branding requirement were also an important element as students, tutors and parents/guardians endeavoured to find out more about this respected place of learning.
